Clay Stafford is a writer, filmmaker, educator, and founder of the Killer Nashville International Writers’ Conference. Throughout a career spanning publishing, film, education, and creative entrepreneurship, he has remained driven by a simple belief: stories have the power to change lives.

His work has taken many forms. He has written novels, screenplays, stage plays, nonfiction, essays, and poetry; produced films and educational programs; founded Killer Nashville University, Killer Nashville Magazine, and Clay Stafford’s Writers’ Podcast; and worked with writers at every stage of their careers. Whether creating stories of his own or helping others tell theirs, his focus has remained the same—encouraging meaningful work built on curiosity, craftsmanship, and community.
